Gambling Paradise: The Escape Call VR is a virtual reality game which takes place in the ocean's depths. You play as a penguin thief who must guide your teammate to escape from the underwater casino with the loot.

"Gambling Paradise: The Escape Call VR" (also known as GPEC VR) is based on "Gambling Paradise: The Escape Call" (also known as GPEC), an alternative controller game. As IIM - Institut de l'internet et du multimédia students, we had the opportunity to participate, creating a project from scratch and using alternative controllers in 4 days.

GPEC is playable on cathode ray television.

To guide your AI partner :

  • you must give indications of movement with a phone using an operational voice recognition technology,
  • you can change your camera using physical buttons to have an overview of the casino,
  • ...and thus allow your accomplice to avoid the guards!


GPEC VR - Key features

Take part in a penguin heist, be the sentinel for your partner from the casino security room and understand the casino's defenses to come up with the best plan. 

Guide your AI partner through voice recognition whilst avoiding the casino guards.

GPEC VR - USPs

Voice Recognition: Use your voice to help your partner to escape with the treasure by telling him the right directions to take!

Writing & planning: Look for information around you and plan different possible paths using pencils next to you to draw your escape route.

Aquatic Environment: Play as a penguin and find yourself in an aquatic casino in VR.


GPEC VR - Art Direction

Humor: Movement and outfit of the penguin, zany side of the characters and scenery.

Wealth: everything in the casino has ties with wealth and opulence, with its many slot machines and other money games

Archetypes: All the characters’ roles and appearances will be based on the species to which they belong, for example the penguin is a thief, and the shark is the guard of the casino.
